Just like planning your daily schedule, treat the Zone the same exact way. All your meals and snacks should be planned the way you schedule daily appointments, meetings, even take a medication. Timing is everything in the Zone!</p>
<p>Simply follow these basic rules and plan your day accordingly:</p>
<p><strong>1. Always eat within one hour after waking.</strong> You must eat a minimum of 3 meals and 2 snacks every day. Afternoon and late evening snacks are critically important for staying in the Zone. A Zone meal should give you 4-5 hours in the Zone, a Zone snack<span id="more-526"></span> 2-2.5 hours. You must eat every 4-5 hours after a meal or 2-2.5 hours after a snack, whether you are hungry or not, to stay in the Zone. In fact, the best time to eat is when you aren&#8217;t hungry. That means your insulin levels are stabilized.</p>
<p><strong>2. Lack of hunger and clear mental focus</strong> are excellent barometers that you are in the Zone. Before every meal and snack always assess your hunger and mental focus.</p>
<p><strong>3. Every meal and snack starts with low-fat protein </strong>plus carbohydrates (eat more leafy green vegetables and fruits and less pasta, breads, grains and starches) and don&#8217;t forget &#8220;good&#8221; fats (i.e. olive oil).</p>

<p>4<strong>. A typical serving size of low-fat protein fits in the palm of your hand</strong> and is no thicker than your hand. For most females, this is 3 ounces of low-fat protein, and for males, this equals 4 ounces of low-fat protein. A typical snack contains 1 ounce of protein for both men and women. At first, a kitchen scale is helpful to measure the protein portion. You can soon eyeball these amounts at home, in restaurants and fast food take-outs.</p>
<p><strong>5. Divide your plate in three equal sections.</strong> Add the protein portion and fill two-thirds of the plate with fruits and vegetables. Don&#8217;t forget to add a dash of fat like olive oil. If you like, add a small dinner salad at dinnertime (a great place to add a dash of &#8220;good&#8221; fats like olive oil).</p>
<p><strong>6. Zone living is guilt free. </strong>If you make a mistake, your next Zone meal or snack will take you right back to the Zone.</p>
<p><strong>7. Exercise on a regular basis.</strong></p>
<p><strong>8. Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.</strong></p>

<p><strong>1. </strong>One big calorie savings for me was to buy an<strong> air popper for pop corn.</strong> You can, if you want, sprinkle it with something flavorful spice like chili powder or another favorite spice, or even a product like Molly McButter if you miss that buttery flavor. This switch is good when you want something savory and crunchy.<span id="more-523"></span></p>
<p><strong>2. At Papa John’s Pizza</strong>, you can save 50 calories a slice by ordering the Thin Crust Pizza with Pepperoni (260 calories a slice) instead of the Original Crust Pizza with Pepperoni (310 calories a slice). Every little bit helps!</p>
<p><strong>3. Chili’s Restaurants </strong>make a wonderful onion dish called the Awesome Blossom and serve it with an great sauce. But, even if you share it with three friends, the calorie count is very high. You would be better off getting an order of onion rings at a fast food joint to get that “onion” craving out of your system.</p>
<p><strong>4. At Wendy’s</strong> if you want to save calories and are getting tired of always having to chose Chicken, you will be happy to know that you will save 300 calories if you order a Junior Cheeseburger instead of a Chicken Club Sandwich. That will be a big help when you’re looking’ for the beef!</p>
<p><strong>5. At Quizno’s Subs</strong>, their Baja Chicken small sub with cheese and dressing weighs in at 490 calories whereas their Chicken Carbonara small sub gives you a calorie boost to 570 calories! A saving of 80 calories!</p>

<p><strong>6. </strong>Craving cheese but think you must always give it up? Not so <strong>at Applebee’s</strong>. You can save 805 calories by eating their Tortilla Chicken Melt (from their Appetizer menu) instead of their Fiesta Lime Chicken.</p>
<p><strong>7. At Auntie Anne’s Pretzels</strong>, if you go for an Original Pretzel at 370 calories you will save 80 calories over the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel.</p>
<p><strong>8. Back to Wendy’s!</strong> An easy way to save 250 calories is to have their Garden Sensations Caesar Chicken Salad instead of the Southwest Taco Salad.</p>
<p><strong>9. At</strong> the world-famous <strong>White Castle</strong>, you can save 131 calories by swapping Mozzarella Cheese Sticks (169 calories) for their French Fries (300 calories). And, if you substitute the Double Bacon Cheeseburger (360 calories) with the Double White Castle burger (290 calories) you will save another 70 calories.</p>
<p>10. I love Del Taco, and there are wise choices that can be made here, too. For example, if you chose to have a 1/2 Pound Green Burrito (430 calories) you will save 620 calories over the Macho Combination Burrito (1030 calories)! Also, their fantastic Chicken Taco Del Carbon (170 calories) is a better choice than their Steak Taco Del Carbon (220 calories).</p>
<p>Don’t be afraid to eat out at your favorite food establishments, just order intelligently. And you will still be losing weight.</p>

Set goals, create a daily calorie budget, record food and exercise, and view graphs of progress with this full-featured weight management app. After you enter your stats, you can create a custom plan, with an end date in mind, based on how much weight you want to lose per week. So for my weight loss goal, should I stick to my 1279 daily calorie budget, my loss should be realized by April 17 of this year.<br />
Since the app is incredibly easy to use and approaches weight loss in an easy way for me to manage, I think I’m going to stick with this one until I reach my goal; I’ll let you know how that goes. (App Store Rating: 3.5 stars)</p>

Calorie trackers are great, but how do you make sure that you’re getting the right nutritional balance? The 40·30·30 app is a one trick pony that will really come in handy if you need to quickly calculate the percentage of carbs, protein, and fats in your meal.<br />

Additional features include the ability to sync with the website and use voice feedback to coach you as you go. Note: as with all apps like this, you do need to leave the app open for the entirety of the workout. (App Store Rating: 3 stars)</p>
<p><strong>iSPINNING</strong><br />
Mountain and road biking fanatics listen up, iSPINNING is powerful app that lets you design workouts to see and track heart rate, time in target zones, calories burned, cadence, speed, distance, and power.<br />

<p><strong>Here&#8217;s is the 10 tips for healthy eating during the holidays:</strong><em> </em></p>
<p><strong>1. No skipping meals.</strong> The old adage rings true -always eat breakfast. Eat small, frequent meals and healthy snacks during the day to help avoid overeating at holiday parties.</p>
<p><em> </em><strong>2. If you overindulge at one meal</strong>, don&#8217;t stress about it &#8211; just get back on track with your next meal.</p>
<p><strong>3. Don&#8217;t drink your calories!</strong> Monitor alcohol and soda consumption. Both are high in calories. Try alternating water with alcoholic beverages.</p>
<p><strong>4. Substitute</strong> &#8211; yogurt for cream, sour cream and mayonnaise, and substitute herbs and spices for salt and fats. You can also add strained applesauce instead of butter or cooking oil when baking.</p>

I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and have kept it off for 15 years after deciding to replace junk f ood with foods like blueberries. The healthier you are, the easier it is to lose weight. Your body can perform miracles when you provide it with proper nutrition. By thinking in this way you have failed before you have even started.<span id="more-486"></span><br />
Instead of asking yourself “Why?” you need to start asking yourself “How?”. “How can I lose weight?” is a much more positive question with much more positive answers. The answers to this question will lead you to the effective, long term solutions of diet and exercise. With positive thinking you can even make your targets more specific. For example, you can ask “How can I lose 50lbs this year?” and then seek out the answers. By restricting your caloric intake, starting a more intensive exercise program and eating a healthy, well planned diet this is a very achievable target.</p>
<p>Positive thinking makes you look for answers and leads to solutions. Negative thinking makes you look for excuses and leads to nothing more. If you do not truly believe that you can lose weight, what is the point of starting a weight loss program. Negative thinking will ultimately make you fail. Positive thinking will make you believe in yourself, meaning you will work harder to burn fat and ultimately you will achieve your weight loss goals.<br />
